Kim was raised in Lake Forest, IL, graduating from Lake Forest High School in 1999. She received a B.A. in English Literature and a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Virginia in 2003. Kim is a lobbyist for the National Association of Manufacturers, a trade association that represents 14,000 manufacturers nationwide, including some of Illinois’ most well-known. Prior to that she worked for the Democratic Caucus handling member services and outreach.
